Summary
Santiago, a penniless fisherman has gone 84 straight days without catching a single fish, and he is broke. He travels out to sea desperately hoping for a catch. A week passes without success. Soon after, an 18 foot long marlin catches his hook and drags the small skiff for seven painful days. When the fish finally comes near, Santiago kills it, ties it to the skiff and begins a challenging venture home. His past apprentice, Manolin welcomes him home with thankful tears. The fish was no longer a legend after that.
